So, I’ve been having a little bit of trouble with my router lately. Okay, that’s an understatement. What’s most annoying is that when I finally get one piece of equipment working, another craps out on me randomly.
Then again, this has been a recurring problem ever since I moved into this place. I just haven’t bothered using the router extensively beyond connecting to the internet, to which I’d just have to refresh to get everything working again. However, ever since reformatting my computer, I’ve been trying to get the files back onto my PC. I’ve finally managed to transfer over a portion of the data, but it’s just taking forever to get stuff over, because the router will crap out and boot both my PC and Mac off the network while it resets itself for no damn good reason at all.
The culprit: D-Link WBR-1310 Wireless Router
After searching a few tech reviews, it seems like this router is one of the worst routers on the market. Why are we using it? I have absolutely no idea. I even have a perfectly good Apple Airport Extreme router sitting behind me, untouched since there’s been no use for it (or so I thought).
Unfortunately, the router currently in use is not mine. Therefore, I must wait for its owner to return home so I can discuss putting the damn thing down. Preferrably with a sledge hammer.
